How do anonymity, group size, and proximity influence participation and communication in CMC groups?
This question can have several different meanings depending on the perspective you are taking on CMC communications. Anonymity can effect weather or not a groups participation is very active or not active at all. or if it is positive or negative people usually feel more comfortable being honest or cruel when no one knows who they are. Group size also can effect participation in a negative or positive way. I think that when a group is smaller people feel more comfortable participating in group conversations. However, when a group is larger everyone might not participate equally because they dont feel as comfortable and they might not feel that it is necessary to participate. Also the larger the group the more diverse the people in the group are going to be which could possibly make communication difficult between people. Proximity can be a problem if everyone is trying to talk at the same time or if everyone is in different countries you know things of that nature
